Biography

Alden earned her M.F.A. in Acting (International) with Distinction from East 15 Acting School in London. Within the context of her training, she had the opportunity to study Stanislavski and Meyerhold at GITIS in Moscow, Shakespeare at the Globe Theatre in London, and Balinese mask, dance, and puppetry at the Institute of the Arts in Denpasar. Prior to graduate school, Alden was based in Chicago for five years where she performed with various companies including Redmoon's Hunchback which toured to the New Victory Theatre in NY and the Shakespeare Theatre in D.C.

In 2004, she conceived, choreographed and performed in An Artist's Workshop. Produced by Azuka Theatre and written and directed by Raelle Myrick-Hodges, the show received a Barrymore nomination for Outstanding New Play in Philadelphia, PA.

As a graduate of the Ecole Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq, Alden has a strong background in Ensemble, Movement, and Mask work. Lecoq training allows her to fully realize the body of a character as well as given her the tools and the patience for devising work with other creative artists.

Most recently, Alden worked with I-Ling Liu on the original piece, shush which performed in Taiwan in the 2015 Taipei Arts Festival.
