Alden is a Certified Birth Doula with DONA, Certified Lactation Counselor with the ALPP, and took her Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) certification with Karen Strange. She successfully completed the Family Development Credential (FDC) through the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development. She is a proud doula with both the By My Side Birth Support Program through Healthy Start Brooklyn and the NYC Doula Collective. She has attended nearly 100 births in NYC and continues to follow up with latest research and continuing education opportunities in order to better support the families she serves. When she is not attending a birth or birth related meeting she is a volunteer teacher at the Brooklyn Public Library Adult Learning Center Program in Flatbush.
Alden has a professional background in Theatre, with post-graduate degrees in Movement (France) and Acting-International (UK). She has taught at various universities and colleges as either Adjunct Faculty or a Visiting Lecturer in her field. Her focus has been on Cultural Narrative through Movement and Story-Telling techniques. Her studies, performances, and research have taken her to incredible parts of the world including Bali, Taiwan, England, Scotland, France, Spain, the Czech Republic and Russia.
